Zlatan Ibrahimovic & Tyrone Mings charged with violent conduct by FA
Manchester United star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been charged with alleged violent conduct following Saturday’s match with Bournemouth, according to the Football Association.
Ibra got into it several times with Tyrone Mings, who was also charged. Ibra threw Mings to the ground, got his head stomped on by the defender and then elbowed him in the face in retaliation, with neither being ejected.
Both are facing three-match bans and have until Tuesday to reply to the charge.
The FA’s statement said that the normal punishment for Mings for these actions is “clearly insufficient,” meaning he could get a more severe suspension if convicted.
Losing Ibra would be a huge blow for United, who are stuck in sixth place in the Premier League and have upcoming league matches against Middlesbrough, West Brom and Everton. The team also faces Chelsea in the FA Cup quarterfinals on Monday. If suspended, that would serve as the first match of his suspension.
